We are pleased to know that MAX has joined hands with BUPA and JV will be taking shape in the coming months.
We are hopeful that with BUPA entry we will be moving away from an era of traditional health insurance products to innovative products offering premium features, ofcourse with corresponding price increase.
International automobile companies are selling premium automobiles to the Indian customers/HNI customers with price ranging from Rs. 20 Lakhs to Rs. 550 Lakhs (insurance premium varying from Rs. 60000 to Rs. 15 Lakhs)
Is it not surprising that we have been selling Health Insurance Policy with sum assured of Rs. 5 Lakhs (rarely Rs. 10 Lakhs) and premium in the range of Rs. 10000 to Rs 15000
The person has his car insured for accidental repairs of Rs. 20 Lakhs or Rs. 80 Lakhs or even Rs. 200 Lakhs but he himself can go in for hospitalization of Rs. 5 Lakhs only.
In one of our blog we wrote that helicopter evacuation is not allowed as a payable expense in the policies being issued. Grand sum of Rs. 1000 is available for ambulance charges.Let us change with time.
Let us hope BUPA and some new entrants will change the rules of the game,

it's really good that some mediclaim insurance companies are comming in the market but any idea which are the other health or mediclaim insurance companies entering in the market in this year and when is bupa expected
why is it so that the mediclaim insurance companies do not give a common cover policy for group health where apart from own family family and friends can be covered without employer employee realtionship as in our building there are 7 to 8 families who want to go for mediclaim along with their family with total memebrs comming to 45 but the insurance companies are telling that it should be group but why can't they issue a seperate policy with some value addition benefits like giving us some limit for opd along with mediclaim policy as everytime it is not necessary that one should be admitted which happened in one of the case where a friend of mine working with reputed company met with an accident and had to undergone stiches but was discharged same day and the insurance company tod since he was not admitted for 24 hrs he is not eligible for any claim but my friend had to spend 6500 rupees including doctors fees, medicines and other expenses like f/up visit extra, don't you think it is really foolishness from insurance company
